While
in Tobago, there are many ways for tourists to get around. For example, the
obvious way being a cab, but that could get expensive. A cheaper, yet still
convenient way is taking the public buses. Tobago has buses running from the Scarborough
terminal to all the surrounding towns, from dawn to dusk. The prices vary from
TT$2 (CAD $0.31) to TT$8 (CAD $1.25) depending on which town you’re travelling
to. The Public Transport Service Corporation website for Trinidad and Tobago
has the bus schedule for the weekdays, Saturday and Sunday including the price
for each bus trip. The two other modes of transportations found on the island
are renting a bike or a car. The problem with renting a car is that gas
stations are very scarce, and being a Canadian, it would be quite a change,
driving on the left side of the road. The problem with riding a bike is that
the roads in Tobago aren’t always “bike friendly” and can be dangerous. Also
the rental companies usually charge by hour for bike rental, which would be
costly if you were planning on renting it throughout your stay.
